Mumei Ubu Shinshinto Katana with Vermillion Saya Koshirae
This Shinshintō-period katana is an unsigned (mumei) example featuring an iori-mune and a maru-dome bō-hi, giving the blade a well-balanced and practical construction. The bō-hi helps reduce overall weight while maintaining excellent handling characteristics, making the sword feel lively and responsive in the hand.
The blade remains in very good overall condition. It has a respectable polish, although there are some light scratches consistent with normal handling and age. These are cosmetic in nature and do not detract from the structural integrity or functionality of the blade.
Thanks to its excellent balance and comfortable weight, this katana would make an ideal choice for practitioners of iaidō or tameshigiri, as well as collectors seeking a sound and dependable Japanese sword from the Shinshintō period.
